This is what a lot of content looks like now.
This includes posts, comments, DMs, and even some emails, and my point is simple…
It’s not that these people just want to seem fake.
(No one wants that → human nature)
But most of them have just heard of consistency. But they have no idea what they’re up to.
And I’ve said this before:
If you want to write better with AI, you should know the basics of writing and prompting.
(And that’s what we’ll be focusing on in the future)
Now, I’m going to give you a few underrated but useful prompting snacks.
They’ll help you:
Write better
Analyze better
Avoid hallucinations
Get a specific response
So to get started…
The 5 prompting tips
1. Be Specific, But Not Restrictive
Broad prompts often go wrong. Prompts like:
“Tell me something interesting”
Why? There’s no specific goal or direction for it. And you may get an output you never expected.
Instead, be specific and open.
Like:
What is a surprising fact about the history of humans that most people don’t know?
See the specified parts?
2. Use Hypothetical Scenarios
AI works best when you challenge it to think. So, give it a hint and let it go over it.
Look at the first sentence:
Imagine you are a historian in the year 3024. How would you describe today’s technology to your peers?
3. Ask for Step-by-Step Explanations
If you think the response is complex, ask for a breakdown.
This helps AI avoid skipping over important details. It also lets you understand the output better.
Something simple like:
Write about how blockchain technology works. Give me a step by step breakdown, as if you're teaching a beginner.
This improves the output a lot.
4. Encourage Critical Thinking
Push AI to analyze or debate topics by asking for pros and cons or comparisons.
For example:
Write about what the pros and cons of working from home are.
or...
What do you think will happen if we sleep for 50 hours straight compared to just 5 hours?
This method works well for analysis.
5. Combine Roles with Tasks
Role is all about giving AI a personality, asking it to adopt an ability. Task is asking to do something.
Pay attention to this prompt:
You are an environmental scientist. Write a persuasive letter advocating for the use of solar energy in urban planning.
This also works well if you want to add some depth to the output.
And that’s it for today…
Btw, how did you enjoy your holidays?
If you ask me, I was sleeping most of the time.😁
