(It’s free & has a lot of cool stuff inside)
You know a lot of good pieces of writing still fail to be free of problems.
It’s not that fixing them is complicated.
But they’re those small adjustments that you have to pay attention to, and not let them pass through with your final output.
They may not ruin your message.
Well, they do make it look cheap, complex, and less effective.
Not a tiny deal at all.
And the main problem?
After completing the writing, you’re already tired and rush to publish it as quickly as possible.
So you usually miss these points.
Points like:
using active over passive voice
using easier word forms
making the flow clearer
using a specific tone
being less wordy
and a lot more…
It’s hard to fix them manually every time. Plus, you can still miss one or two at least.
So allow me to take you on a shortcut.
You’ll be using AI for all the heavy-lifting.
1. Take Care of the Essentials
Essentials like grammar, spelling, and…
Use this prompt with your writing:
Here's a draft I'm working on. Please review it carefully for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic typos only. Do not change my style.
[Paste your text].
Here, it will only fix these errors for you.
📍Tip: Always specify the scope. For example, "grammar only" vs "grammar + tone." This helps avoid unwanted rewrites.
Now, you can get even more done.
Not only fix the errors but also get feedback on any error (why is it the case and how to fix it).
Here you go:
Proofread this text for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors only. Provide corrections with explanations if needed.
[Paste your text]."
Or, just highlight the errors:
Highlight only the errors in this text without rewriting it.
[Paste your text].
Next…
2. Improve the Clarity and Flow of your Writing
Ok. Now the grammar is clear. Let’s focus on clarity.
This can be long sentences, vague words, lack of flow…
Review this writing for clarity, conciseness, and flow. Suggest any edits that would make it easier to understand, but keep my tone and intent intact.
[Paste your text].
This prompt will take care of all that’s mentioned and give you a description of what happened.
📍 Bonus Tip: Ask for multiple options if you want choices.
"Suggest three different ways to reword any unclear sentences in this text.
[Paste your text]."
This will give you three different ways to rewrite each unclear sentence.
“When there’s options, there’s improvement” —unknown.
BOOOOOM!
3. Set the Tone and Formality
You may be writing to a group of farmers or some CEO in Silicon Valley.
So depending on who you’re writing for, you may need to adjust to the tone of your writing.
And a tone goes on 2 main paths:
Formal (e.g. academic papers, business emails)
Conversational (e.g blogs, social media)
Again, prompting time:
Analyze the tone of this text. Is it formal, casual, persuasive, etc.? Suggest changes to better match [desired tone] without losing my voice.
[Paste your text].
It will first give you a vibe check on what’s going on with your writing.
Then, you’ll see a polished rewrite.
Are you still with me?
Good. Let’s catch another one…
4. Logical Errors & Structure Issues
You have to make sure your text is free of:
repetitions
contradictions
Poorly organized arguments
This prompt will polish that:
Analyze the structure and logic of this text. Are ideas presented in a clear, logical order? Point out any inconsistencies or confusing parts.
[Paste your text].
You’ll hate how many errors it points out that you’ve probably missed.
And relax! No one’s perfect. But it’s better to get feedback on your writing.
“Swords are made in fire.” —again, unknown
5. You Are The One
At the end of the day, you’ll be the one using that writing.
Your account. Your brand. Your gains.
It’s always better to be in control of what you write, regardless of how much AI you use.
If it comes from you, it has to come from you.
AI can polish a text for you. It can analyze ideas in certain ways. It can even write for you. No doubt.
But it’s you whose depth matters, and works well.
We’re all humans, and prefer a human talk.
So, try to be aware of and intentional with whatever you put in the sheet.
Revise them yourself.
And most important of all, confirm that it sounds the way you want it to.
With love,
Sami 👋
