There’s an interesting rule in copywriting:
- Using easier words.
It’s probably the thing AI lacks the most. And people hate reading writings that take extra mental energy.
And to my surprise, some people avoid using easier words thinking it would seem too childish.
Well, it doesn’t. Not at all.
Your audience may criticize you for being too complex. They’ll never criticize you for being too simple.
(They’ll rather love you for that)
And fixing this only needs an effort worth a dime.
You ask ChatGPT to find words that sound complex. You ask it to show their simpler alternatives and replace them.
Yes. I know it’s easier said than done. So…
Let me show it to you in action:

1. Get your writing ready
Or you may ask ChatGPT to write something. Anything you’d like.
In this case, I’ll ask for a short email.
Yes. I know. It’s easy to spot those generic words.
Let’s take them all out. How?
Now, I want you to list all the phrases and words that have 3 or more syllables.
Well done, but…
I’ve only focused on longer or complex words, as you may see below. You can ask for anything else if you want.
Good job. Now we need all of these 14 words for some special operations.
2. Find the best matches
Yes. Matches for these words. And ask ChatGPT in the same chat to do it.
Good. Now I want you to change each one of these words and phrases to their easily-pronounced and commonly-used synonyms. I want you to use the synonyms that are less than 3 syllables. Bring them all up by replacing them with this numbered list above.
Hold on! What happened?
So, this will replace the words in the list with their easier synonyms. You first have to know if each replacement is worth it.
Here you go…
Seems good to me.
Now if you want to save time from manually replacing all the words, do this…
3. Replace complex with easier words
This is probably the easiest part, and you need as simple prompt as this below.
Ok. Now, I want you to add all of these new synonyms into the original paragraph by putting them in the places of their original words.
And here goes…
Now, compare the two outputs. It may not sound perfect, but you should notice improvements in word choice.
(The difference in word choice is obvious)
And also, this technique is more efficient for longer writings.
I’ll wrap up here. Thanks for reading.
